چکیده

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a public and occupational health concern, as we are exposed to air pollutants daily given that spend great amount of our time in indoor environments. IAQ can be affected by numerous factors, from outdoor get indoors through ventilation building materials, furnishings, activities carried the occupants. Exposure has been linked panoply adverse effects on health, well-being, performance. The aim this study was assess grocery stores (GSs) municipality Cascais Lisbon metropolitan area (Portugal) characterize workers’ exposure pollutants. conducted 13 small “family” stores. monitoring campaign using low-cost sensor technologies focused several parameters, namely: carbon dioxide (CO2), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulate matter (PM10 PM2.5), temperature (T), relative humidity (RH). Overall, studied GSs complied with Portuguese legislation, except for PM2.5, where 23% presented levels above established limit value. mean inhaled dose workers during workday estimated 157.7 ± 57.2 μg PM2.5 165.8 56.0 PM10. assessment allowed identification best strategies improve worker experience workplace

Indoor Air Quality

The issues of indoor air quality are complex and can be directly influenced by a number of system and building parameters. There are no universal solutions for every problem since there are numerous potential contaminant sources. They may originate from indoors and have a direct impact on indoor environmental quality, or they may originate from outdoors and be transferred by a mechanical or nat...

Indoor air quality.

Complaints in modern buildings have been attributed to inadequate ventilation for the last 20 years. Few data exist to support this claim. In fact, few studies have actually looked at ventilation and complaints at the same time. These missing studies indicate a failure of three groups of professionals, physicians and health scientists, architects and engineers, and scientists knowledgeable in e...

Indoor Air Quality Measurement

A qualitative assessment of indoors air quality is presented, by the use of an electronic nose consisting of a gas sensor array, a data acquisition system and a pattern recognition system. The gas sensors are sensitive to gases polluting the indoors air but they are sensitive to indoors temperature and humidity as well. The data acquisition system overtakes the sensors specific response and out...

Indoor Air Quality in Submarines

The next generation of conventional submarines will be submerged for several weeks, creating a need for regenerative air purification methods and new air monitoring instruments. Submarine air is a complex mixture of compounds, where the most obvious contaminant is metabolically produced carbon dioxide. Normal eight-hour occupational exposure limits are not applicable on a submarine, instead spe...
